Ryan Bernal Hits Tulare Jackpot

TULARE, Calif. – Ryan Bernal outran Markus Niemela in the closing laps to win Friday’s USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series race at Thunderbowl Raceway.

Niemela jumped into the lead at the start of the 15-lap feature, but a pair of flips by Austin Liggett and Terry Nichols slowed the pace. On lap 11 second-place Bernal made his move, driving by Niemela to assume the lead.

Bernal led the final five laps to score his first victory of the young season. Niemela chased him home in second.

Bud Kaeding, Danny Faria Jr. and Jace VanderWeerd completed the top five.
