90 Races For WoO STP Sprints
INDIANAPOLIS — The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series used the SPEED SPORT Industry Center on the floor of the International Motorsports Industry Show in Indianapolis to announce a 90-night schedule for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series in 2013.
In its first season with title sponsorship from STP, the venerable traveling sprint-car tour will visit more than 50 tracks in 23 states and Canada during its 36th season of competition.
“We’ve been able to add races a little bit at a time during the past few years and we are proud to say that we have hit the 90-race mark for 2013,” said World Racing Group CEO Brian Carter.
The season kicks off with the 42nd annual UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Feb. 15-17 at Florida’s Volusia Speedway Park and will conclude with the PEAK Motor Oil World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway Nov. 7-9.
Highlights of the schedule include the 53rd Knoxville Nationals Aug. 7-10, the 30th Kings Royal at Ohio’s Eldora Speedway July 13, The National Open Oct. 4-5 at Pennsylvania’s Williams Grove Speedway and the Ironman 55 at Missouri’s Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 Aug. 3.
“It’s because we are local entertainment,” said Carter explaining how the series has been able to grow despite a still-struggling economy. “We are the big event at a local level and the local fans are resilient and they find a way to support racing and the local racers find a way to support our races.”
