CONCORD, N.C. — On Friday night Dale Blaney rolled snake eyes at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, but he had Lady Luck on his side during Saturday night’s finale of the PEAK Motor Oil World of Outlaws World Finals at the four-tenths-mile oval.

Blaney battled for the lead on Friday night, but cut a tire while leading the race with 10 laps remaining.

He came back Saturday night and kept George Fisher’s No. 2 in the hunt throughout the night, leading early and late en route to his second World of Outlaws victory of the season.

Ironically, Blaney was running second when Craig Dollansky cut a tire with seven laps remaining. Blaney survived three restarts during the closing seven laps including a final last-corner run by Paul McMahan, to take the checkered flag.

“We had a really good car,” said Blaney. “Craig was a little better than us there at one point, but he had a little bit of a problem there.

“With three to go I ducked down there getting off of four and ran it as hard as I could and I was just trying to protect myself and get what I could get. If he was going to pass me it was going to have to be on the outside. My car was really good for three nights in a row.”

McMahan started 22nd and finished second in Chad and Jen Clemens’ No. 51.

“I just gave it everything I had,” he said. “I didn’t qualify very well the other night and to come from 22nd to second, I can’t ask for much more than that. I think I showed a lot of people I can still drive a race car.”

Jason Johnson, Kraig Kinser and Greg Hodnett rounded out the top five.

Donny Schatz secured his fifth World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship despite a dismal weekend, which saw him fail to qualify on Friday and crash during Saturday’s feature after contact with Paul McMahan.
