STOCKTON, Calif. – As if the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series wasn’t enough to blow the roof off of the new Stockton 99 Dirt Track, three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart has thrown his helmet into the mix.
On Friday the World of Outlaws will invade the new Stockton 99 Dirt Track with the full participation of Stewart at the helm of his high-powered 410 winged sprint car.
This is nothing new for Stewart since he participates throughout the year at venues he can incorporate into his busy NASCAR schedule. However, what will be new is the fact he has never raced his sprint-car in California.
“Undoubtedly, It’ll be a busy Friday in California,” Stewart said. “We’ll be qualifying our Cup car before heading up to Stockton to mix it up with the Outlaws. This will be my first time racing my winged sprint car in the state of California. I’m passionate about grassroots racing. It’s in my blood. I grew up racing midgets and sprint cars in the USAC series. There’s no place I’d rather be than at a race track on a Friday night.”
Racing with the Outlaws is certainly no easy task and no one knows this better than Stewart.
“When you race with the Outlaws, you know you have to be on top of your game as the Outlaws have some of the best 410 sprint drivers in the world,” said Stewart. “If you can stay ahead of Kinser, Swindell, Schatz, those guys, you know you’ve had an impressive night.”
