Justin Allison will attempt to qualify for his first short-track ARCA race this weekend in Toledo, Ohio.

TOLEDO, Ohio – Justin Allison, the grandson of NASCAR legend Donnie Allison and great nephew of Daytona 500 champion Bobby Allison, makes his ARCA short track debut at Toledo Speedway in the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care May 17-18.

Allison, in the No. 88 Ford, has just three ARCA starts under his belt, all on superspeedways. This Sunday’s short track adventure at Toledo will return the third-generation racer to his roots.

“All of my racing experience comes from short-track racing,” Allison said. “I’m looking forward to going to Toledo. We have a winning short track program at Team BCR, and the No. 88 HaVACo Ford should be strong.”

Allison tested the No. 88 car powered at South Boston (Va.) Speedway earlier this week in preparation for the Menards 200.

“Testing at South Boston Speedway gave me the extra confidence I needed,” he said. “Short tracks are definitely more in my comfort zone. Howard Bixman (car owner) and the crew gave me a great car, and I learned a great deal throughout the day. I know there’s room for improvement and a tremendous amount I need to learn moving forward. I’m really excited to see what the weekend holds for our 88 team.”

Allison considers short track racing as “real racing.

“This is where the real racing will happen,” Allison said. “Racing at these speedways, like Daytona and Talladega, has a tremendous amount of variables. At the short tracks, you not only have to bring a fast car, but have the talent as a driver. I think we’ll be a threat to our competition in Toledo since short track racing is what I grew up on and have the most experience with.”
