ARCA’s DuQuoin Run Reset For Oct. 14

DUQUOIN, Ill. — Continued rain in southern Illinois, a remnant of Hurricane Isaac’s progression through the Midwestern United States, has forced ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards officials to postpone Monday’s Southern Illinois 100 presented by Federated Car Care at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds.

Though light, the system circling the region has been consistent enough to leave the mile-long dirt track and surrounding fairgrounds unsuitable not only for racing, but also for the related activity of race teams, officials, emergency vehicles, fans, and more. Seven inches of precipitation have fallen over the area in the past three days.

Officials had expected dry conditions Monday and made the preemptive decision to push the day’s schedule back three hours to allow the track to dry, but the rain continued.

The race has been rescheduled for Oct. 14.
