Bowman Goes Two-For-Two In ARCA

Alex Bowman
KANSAS CITY, Kan. — When the yellow flag waved with 11 laps remaining in Friday night’s Kansas Lottery 98.9 ARCA Racing Series event at Kansas Speedway, Venturini Motorsports played two different strategies on its front-running Toyota Camrys.
In the end, fresh tires made the difference as Alex Bowman earned his second victory of the season driving the Venturini No. 55 and Max Gresham in the team’s No. 25 ended up in fourth place.
Gresham stayed on the track on worn tires and had the lead when the race resumed with five laps of the 1.5-mile track remaining. Chris Buescher and Grant Enfinger also did not pit and the pair restarted second and third while Bowman stopped for four tires and began the dash to the checkered flag in ninth spot.
Bowman, who was recently named rookie of the year in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, and won the ARCA event at Madison (Wis.) Int’l Speedway earlier this year, sliced his way to the front and emerged from a wild battle with Gresham, Buescher and Enfinger to claim the victory after taking the lead with two laps to go and winning for the second time in as many ARCA starts.
“We were flat junk before that caution came out and we were going straight backward,” said Bowman, who became the first driver to win his first two ARCA starts. “I can’t thank everybody enough.”
Buescher was second in the Roulo Brothers Ford, while Enfinger (Dodge) came home third. Gresham and Cale Gale, who wheeled Kevin Harvick’s No. 33 Chevrolet rounded out the top five.
Point-leader Ty Dillon, who brought out the final caution flag while running second and trying to lap Michael Levine, finished seventh and maintained a commanding lead in the standings.
All Dillon has to do to clinch the championship next week at Toledo (Ohio) Speedway is take the green flag.
