Kimmel Still Chasing ARCA History
TOLEDO, Ohio – Frank Kimmel will come to his home state of Indiana this weekend in pursuit of his 79th all-time ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards victory.
Kimmel should feel right at home in the Herr’s Chase the Taste 200 at the historic Winchester Speedway short track. In fact, 42 of his 78 all-time ARCA wins came on short tracks, including five at Winchester.
“I’ve always said that Winchester is exactly the kind of track that these big heavy ARCA cars belong on,” Kimmel said. “The half-mile tracks are perfect for what we do – race hard, beat and bang a little and make it exciting for the fans. It’s pretty exciting from the driver’s view too.”
The Herr’s Chase the Taste 200 will be 24th appearance for the ARCA Racing Series at Winchester, dating back to 1957.
The Herr’s Chase the Taste 200 serves as the grand finale in an all-ARCA weekend that includes the ARCA Truck Series, the ARCA/CRA Super Series and the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.
All three divisions will divide track time Saturday with back-to-back practice sessions beginning at 11:30 a.m. Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell for the ARCA Racing Series is scheduled for 5 p.m., followed by the ARCA Truck Series race at 6, and the ARCA CRA Super Series race at 7. The big ARCA triple header race weekend will culminate with the Herr’s Chase the Taste 200 finale Sunday afternoon at 2.
Kimmel enters Sunday’s race leading the series point standings as he pursues his 10th all-time series championship. He is also one victory away from tying Iggy Katona for the most wins in the ARCA Racing Series.
