BROOKLYN, Mich. – Before Friday at Michigan Int’l Speedway, Brennan Poole hadn’t raced in the ARCA Racing Series since last October.

If he was rusty, it certainly didn’t show.

Poole held off Ryan Blaney during a late-race restart to score his fourth ARCA Racing Series victory during Friday’s Patriot Pumps 200 at Michigan Int’l Speedway.

Blaney dominated much of the 100-lap event, but pit strategy put him at a disadvantage. Blaney got caught a lap down when Spencer Gallagher crashed to bring out a caution flag with 28 laps left. Blaney got the lucky dog to get back on the lead lap, but a penalty for not lining up in the proper lane during the restart slowed his charge to the front.

Meanwhile at the front of the pack, Justin Boston drove around Grant Enfinger to take the lead with 21 laps to go. Poole followed his Venturini Motorsports teammate around Enfinger one lap later and the two began to battle for the race lead.

Poole attempted to get under Boston coming out of turn two with 12 laps left, but the move backfired as Boston got loose and spun just in front of Poole. Boston spun to the inside of the track and Poole narrowly avoided him, inheriting the lead in the process as the caution flag waved.

The field returned to green flag racing with eight laps left. As the field flowed into turn one Blaney made his charge, overtaking Frank Kimmel for second and setting his sights on Poole. Blaney gave it his best shot, but he couldn’t get close enough to make a move on Poole in the final laps.

Poole ended up beating Blaney to the checkered by .568-second.
