Poole The Favorite For ARCA’s Michigan Show

TOLEDO, Ohio – Brennan Poole’s dominating victory in Saturday’s Pocono ARCA 200 helped him extend his points lead in the ARCA Racing Series, matching a 55-point margin he also held in early May.

Poole leads Chris Buescher 1660-1605; he led Tom Hessert by the same season-high margin after racing at Talladega Superspeedway on May 4. Buescher had entered the race at Pocono third.

Venturini Motorsports team manager and crew chief Billy Venturini told SPEED’s Ray Dunlap that performance breeds comfort in looking at the point standings.

“We led the most laps and sat on the pole; maximum points today and maximum points last week (at Elko),” Venturini said. “We’re doing our job. The points will take care of themselves if we keep performing like this.”

Through 11 starts for Venturini Motorsports since last May, Poole has three wins – and plenty of momentum.

“Brennan and I, we’ve just really connected,” Venturini said. “He’s a great kid and an amazing race car driver, and we’ve got some momentum. If we can avoid bad luck, I think we can be pretty tough this year.”

Chad Hackenbracht improved two positions to third, 75 points behind Poole. Hessert fell two to fourth, 85 points out of the lead. Frank Kimmel dropped from fourth to fifth, 95 points behind first place.

Alex Bowman stayed sixth, 165 points behind first, as Matt Lofton leaped Ryan Reed for seventh. Lofton is 190 points out of first, with Reed 10 behind him. Jared Marks improved from 10th to ninth, and Josh Williams climbed back into the top 10.

The series returns to action this weekend at Michigan Int’l Speedway for the RainEater Wiper Blades 200.
