Williams Partners With Gallagher Motorsports
MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Having finalized all of the details on a newly-formed partnership with Gallagher Motorsports, Josh Williams is set to compete in this weekend’s ARCA Racing Series event at Chicagoland Speedway.
Typically running his infamous orange No. 02 out of his family-owned Josh Williams shop, the Port Charlotte, Fla., native makes the best of a limited-budget and schedule each year.
Subbing for an injured Spencer Gallagher at Winchester (Ind.) Speedway, Williams instantly clicked with the Gallagher Motorsports crew. Having made a full recovery and returning to the seat of the No. 23 this weekend, Gallagher and the crew reached out to Williams shortly after the race with the possibility of a new partnership.
Continuing to use his own Ford Fusions, Williams brought his cars to the Mooresville, N.C., shop early last week and will run under the Gallagher Motorsports banner.
Chassis No. 242, a Roush Fenway Racing custom built car, will be Williams’ hotrod at the 1.5-mile paved tri-oval on Sunday. He last ran the car at Michigan International Speedway, where he battled to a top-10 finish after starting 14th.
In connection with the team’s partnership, Allegiant Travel will also dawn their likeness over the No. 02 in a one-race sponsorship of the 19 year old. Gallagher and Williams will both sport the custom Allegiant Travel design, along with the iconic swooping plane down the side.
“I am truly thankful for all of the opportunities Gallagher Motorsports and Allegiant Travel have given me,” Williams said. “I was honored to get the call a few weeks back to fill in for Spencer (Gallagher) and to now have this new partnership in place is amazing. I am really looking forward to hitting the banks of Chicagoland (Speedway) and really showcasing the No. 02 Allegiant Travel Ford Fusion this weekend.”
