Friends Aid Bill Prietzel
ELKHART LAKE, Wis. — Thanks to a little help from his friends, Bill Prietzel won his third Mid-American Stock Car Series Vercauteren Memorial Sunday afternoon at Road America.
Unsure that he would be able to start the race because of an overheating engine, the entire garage chipped in to make sure Prietzel would start the 40-mile event. The help paid off in a big way as Prietzel came from sixth at the start to take the lead at the end of the first lap of the 4.048-mile road course.
Ron Weyer, Mark Pluer, David Verhagen and Bret Widdis filled the top five.
The finish:
Bill Prietzel, Ron Weyer, Mark Pluer, David Verhagen, Bret Widdis, Bobby Gutknecht, Butch Mierendorf, Ryan Gutknecht, Scott Null, Crystal Wood, Paige Decker, Brian Back, Jeremy Spoonmore, Lyle Nowak, James Swan, Adam Bendzick, Dave Marshall, Travis Rodewald, Tyler Bauknecht, Jason Mertes, Mike Mulcahy.
