A.J. Frank Seeking New Opportunities

BLUFFTON, S.C. – Veteran CARS X-1R Pro Cup Series competitor A.J. Frank is looking for new opportunities next year after amicably parting ways with Dean Racing following the conclusion of the 2013 season.

“I’ve had a great few years working with the Dean family and can’t thank them enough for what they have done for me, but I am looking forward to expanding my career,” Frank said. “The Dean family has decided to pursue some new opportunities with Gus next season in other series. It just made sense so we can both focus on 2014.”

Frank has spent the last three seasons at Dean Racing, serving as crew chief and team manager to up-and-coming driver Gus Dean. During that time Dean has made 24 Pro Cup starts, earning 15 top fives and 22 top 10s with a best finish of second on five different occasions. Dean finished the 2013 season third in the CARS X-1R Pro Cup Series championship standings.

The Dean Racing team led by Frank also made two starts in the Pro All Stars Series South late-model tour this year, finishing in the top 10 both times. The team also had zero mechanical DNF’s in 2013.

“We made a lot of progress with Gus over the last few years and he has really matured as a race car driver,” Frank said. “This season we struggled a bit during the middle of the year, but we really came on strong at the end of the season.”

In addition to being a skilled crew chief, mechanic, driver coach and team manager, the 39-year-old South Carolina native is also skilled behind the wheel of a race car. Frank is a veteran of 88 Pro Cup Series starts, earning one victory, 30 top fives and 53 top 10s during his career.

He has also made starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, ARCA Racing Series, NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, Goody’s Dash Series, NASCAR All Pro Series and the ASA Challenge Series.

Frank is available for any opportunities within the Pro Cup Series as a team manager, driver coach, crew chief or driver.

“The Pro Cup Series is my home and I want to continue to support Jack (McNelly, series owner) in getting that series back to where it needs to be,” Frank said. “I’ve got some irons in the fire for the 2014 season but the more I can get lined up now the better.”
