Anders Breaks Myrtle Beach Bank

Anthony Anders won Friday’s Myrtle Beach 400.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Anthony Anders banked $10,000 after taking a provisional starting position and racing from 26th on the grid to win the Myrtle Beach 400 late model stock car race.

Anders inherited the win when race leader Justin Milliken and second-place Ben Rhodes  made contact on the white-flag lap. Rhodes was penalized to the end of the lead lap for rough driving and NASCAR awarded Anders the victory.

“We made a few changes to the car,” said Anders. “We talked about it. I said I was going to do a little bit on the staggered tires and that’s what we did. We put just a little bit of soft spring rubber on the left front and it rotated a lot better. I hated to see those cautions come out toward the end. We were going to put on a good show there especially in the last eight laps but that caution came out. We freed it up to the point it just turned right down on the bottom, good throttle response and we just came right on home.”

B.J. Mackey was scored second at the finish, followed by Tommy Lemons Jr., C.E. Falk III and Robert Tyler.

The finish:

Anthony Anders, B.J. Mackey, Tommy Lemons Jr., C.E. Falk III, Robert Tyler, Matt Cox, Sam Yarbrough, Alex Yontz, Brandon Dean, Michael Hardin, Rusty Skewes, Tyler English, Jonathan Cash, Jeremy McDowell, Frank Deiny Jr., Ben Rhodes, Justin Milliken, Justin Crider, Brent Brinson, Tyler Howell, Trey Marcham, David Roberts, Jeremy Burns, Will Burns, Casey Wyatt, Austin McDaniel, Akinori Ogawa, Terry Evans, Garrett Campbell, Greg Edwards, Jake Engle.
