Zehr Leads ASA National Standings
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – For many of the ASA Member Tracks there are a number of drivers flexing their muscles as ASA debuted its 2013 ASA Member Track National Championship with Norway Speedway’s Dalton Zehr atop the standings.
Zehr is off to a quick start at Norway Speedway where he runs the track’s Late Model division and has him atop the ASA National Championship standings with an average of 0.8793. Born and raised in Daytona Beach, FL, Zehr is making a name for himself in the upper Midwest where he also runs the Tundra Super Late Model Series.
Norway Speedway, located in Norway, Mich., is a third-mile oval track that is slightly banked. The track, originally built a dirt track in 1942, was blacktopped in 1979. Racing is held on Friday evenings from Mid-May through Labor Day weekend when the champions are crowned during the fair.
Due to a spring and summer that caused significant weather issues for many track operators, these standings are still early in the season and it is anticipated that significant change will be seen in the coming weeks.
“For many track operators it has been a tough summer dealing with inclement weather so we delayed our national championship standings to allow track’s to get some races under their belts,” said Dennis Huth, President of ASA. “This is our sixth year awarding the ASA Member Track National Championship and we look forward to an exciting battle as drivers not only go up against their respective track competitors but against all the eligible ASA Member Tracks from coast-to-coast.”
