Gruel Crowned Oswego’s King Of Wings
OSWEGO, N.Y. – Dave Gruel stepped into Steve Miller’s No. 16 supermodified and drove it to victory during ISMA Oswego King of Wings at Oswego Speedway Saturday night.
Gruel jumped into Miller’s entry when regular driver Paul White couldn’t make the trip to New York. It turned out to be a great decision, as Gruel won his heat and drew the second starting position.
Being chased by former NASCAR Nationwide and Camping World Truck champion Johnny Benson, Jr., Gruel never looked back as he got team owner Miller his first victory at Oswego.
“Unbelievable. I just can’t believe this,” Gruel said. “It’s awesome. For Steve Miller and the whole team, who have been racing all this time, to get their first win with them in the first time in the car. And to win with an awesome Kevin Enders motor in it – that combination made the car just unbelievable.”
Charlie Schultz crossed the line in third, followed by Lou Cicconi, Jr. and Tim Jedrzejek.
