Wallace Eyes Iowa ASA Round

Steven Wallace

NEWTON, Iowa — Steven Wallace has always considered himself a short-track guy which is why he is really looking forward to racing at Iowa Speedway Friday night with the ASA Midwest Tour.

Tracks like Iowa Speedway and the Milwaukee Mile may not necessarily feel like short tracks to the drivers of the ASAMT who are used racing on half miles or less. However, it is not so much the size of the track but the speed that makes races like the 3M 150 such huge events for the ASAMT.

Wallace noted that the difference between what he is used to and what the ASAMT drivers are used to is that for him, tracks like the Milwaukee Mile and Iowa Speedway are short tracks, but yet they are the biggest tracks that the Tour races on. Iowa Speedway is a seven-eighths-mile oval

“I’ve always run well at short tracks and expect to have a good run at Iowa,” said Wallace. Steven Wallace has quite a bit of experience at Iowa Speedway in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and won the inaugural ARCA event there in October of 2006.

Steven and his team have been working day and night to prepare for this race and he expects to have a good run amidst a field that will be packed with the most competitive drivers.

“I expect there to be a lot of good guys right off the truck but I think we will be one of them and have a shot to win for sure,” said Wallace.

Wallace’s car will be sponsored by the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience which will be coming to Iowa Speedway Oct. 6-7.
